Non-Diet Diabetes Care, Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian

Nutrition & Diabetes Philosophy

Coping with a diabetes diagnosis, managing blood sugar and living day-to-day with diabetes can be really tough. You were probably handed a lot of rules and myths along with your diabetes or prediabetes diagnosis, and trying to follow them can make you feel like you’re falling into a bottomless well of information.

You deserve to live a life free from rigid, suffocating rules about food and blood sugar management.

That's where I come in. I’m a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES) and a registered dietitian nutritionist.  I want to be in your corner, helping you understand the ins and outs of diabetes or prediabetes. I offer a compassionate, person-centered approach that could be a game-changer for your health and wellness.

You can have a healthier relationship with food and body while also improving your confidence in managing blood sugar. This work isn't easy, but it is incredibly rewarding.  Using intuitive eating in diabetes management is not the standard approach in the medical community, yet I believe it is the most ethical, evidence-based and healthy practice of type 1 or type 2 diabetes care.

Working with me as your diabetes dietitian, you can expect to:

  • Manage blood sugar without rigidity or anxiety.

  • Become calm, confident, and relaxed around food.

  • Rediscover satisfaction and pleasure around food without feeling out of control.

  • Feel confident in your diabetes management with technology, medication, food, and exercise.

  • Improve flexibility with blood sugar and food and free up space in your brain for other wonderful and rewarding parts of life.

Here is what NOT to expect from me:

  • Giving you rigid diet plans or rules

  • Focusing on, prescribing, or encouraging weight loss

  • Making you feel judged or defensive about your past or present eating, weight loss desires, or diabetes management

My counseling is rooted in the principles of Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating. I believe in non-weight focused counseling, but that doesn't mean we won't talk about your weight concerns. If that is important to you (and it is for many), I definitely want to discuss it. It simply means that the focus of our work will be healing your relationship with food and body rather than focusing on strategies to "fix" your body.

"What if I have an eating disorder and diabetes?"

Then you've come to the right place! I have expertise both as an eating disorder dietitian and a diabetes specialist, so I work with you on caring for your body while you manage both conditions and work towards healing.
